Corded Crinoline From a Private Collection by Fig Leaf c. 1845-60
Product Description
Sizes 8-18 and 18-28
The corded petticoat was the basic undergarment of support for the skirts from the 1840's and into the 1860's. While we think of hoops as being t he main skirt support, a working or traveling lady would find this very hard indeed. Corded Petticoats had from one to several layer of soft petticoats on top to smooth the look for the skirts. The skirt has 13 rows of braided cord, with double. The waist yolk is lined and buttoned. Revised October 2008.
